Did Sky support confirm that the new Sky Go installer will work on an OS X Yosemite Mac without Silverlight (basically Microsoft's version of Adobe Flash)? If not, I don't think bringing your iMac to the Genius Bar will help. Do you happen to have another Mac handy or can borrow one to see if you can install Sky Go on it? Of course, that Mac would have to be running Yosemite for the test to be useful.
Sky Go is available on Windows, but only on systems running Windows 7 (with Aero theme enabled) and above. Mac users will need to run OS X 10.9 or above to use the application. A great UK only service that provides access to SKY channels and catch up without a contract. Before you go After spending over 20 years working with Macs, both old and new, theres a tool I think would be useful to every Mac owner who is experiencing performance issues.
Silverlight, as you are already aware, is a web browser plug-in for Macs. iOS devices use a dedicated Sky Go app instead. I assume that you also know that Silverlight is no longer supported by Microsoft, and most likely why, Sky had to use a different installation method.

Use automatically removal solution to remove Sky Go in your macOS
1. Download and install MacRemover
2. Switch to Finder and select Go -> Applications from the Finder menu.
3. Locate the MacRemover icon and double-click on it.
